Crowdfunding is the new black. You may have heard of the website Kickstarter? Well, pozible.com is the Australian version. And it is very cool.
In short, crowdfunding is a new way of raising funds for creative projects, and Spare Parts has signed up! Basically, the site allows project creators to present their idea to a worldwide audience. You set a dollar target and a deadline, and your fans, followers, friends, family and kind strangers make a pledge towards your target. The pledges are only processed if you reach your target.
There are rewards also available, and I have listed four:
For pledges of $50 or more you can choose to receive a copy of the Spare Parts 2012 program posted to you (anywhere in the world) later this year. There are 20 of these available.
For pledges of $200 or more you can choose a very cool black and red deer/dog/unicorn head by Gold Coast artists Erica Gray. His name is Bingo, and he is valued at $300 and is made from sculpting foam, wool, felt, mount board and PVC.
For pledges of $300 or more I have one copy of an Andy Warhol catalogue donated by the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), from their Warhol exhibition in 2007. This is a Limited Edition, number 209 of 1000. Hardcopy, with Campbell’s Soup 1 on the cover. This catalogue is now out of print, and quite the collectors item!
For pledges of $500 or more I have a leg from the 2010 exhibition up for grabs!
“Wench From The Depths” by Rachi Brains. Valued at $750, it is made from a prosthetic leg, modeling clay, acrylics, plastic cherry blossoms. Rachi is a very popular tattoo artist based in Brisbane.
So basically – you can go on and pledge any amount upwards of $1 towards Spare Parts, but if you’re interested in one of the above rewards you need to pledge a little bit more, and get in quick! I think they will be snapped up quite fast.
Spare Parts is an independent event, and I rely on sponsorship and funding to make it all possible. For the London exhibition I am asking everyone to help make it happen.
There is a fundraiser at the Zoo in Brisbane on June 7th, awesome raffles up for grabs, and a market day at fashion label dgostar’s studio on June 17th. I have set up Pozible to allow people outside of Brisbane to get involved and lend a hand (or a foot, or an eye!).

You have until 12pm on Saturday June 30th to pledge!
Thanks in advance for your support!
